About
Owner-operated by Ed Schmidt, Anvil Iron Works has hand-forged custom iron in Nampa and the Treasure Valley since 1985 — no visible welds, no shortcuts, no runaround.
Our story
Anvil Iron Works is owner-operated by Ed Schmidt, who has been hand-forging custom iron in Nampa since 1985 — more than 40 years at the anvil. From railings and stairs to gates, fences and structural steel, every piece that leaves our shop is forged by hand, not bolted together, with no visible welds.
We also take on structural and industrial fabrication, farm and ag work, metal repair, and custom iron furniture and accessories — drawing from more than 5,000 design elements we keep on hand. Every job is finished with in-house powder coating and backed by our guarantee, for homes and businesses across Nampa and the Treasure Valley.

"Beautiful work. Always showed up when he said he would and finished earlier than expected. Second time we've used Ed, he does such a great job."
"Ed is terrific! Melody and I were doing a remodel and had to redo a patio slab, which changed the footprint of our old wrought iron fence. Ed was able to repair and renew the old fence to like new with the new shape! I would highly recommend him for any metal project!"
"Ed came up and did a farm trip for me. I needed new forks fabricated for my tractor and Ed was the guy! Very professional, precise and he did a fantastic job. I was up and out on the tractor loading the same day."
